Halo and the Government-University-Industry-Philanthropy Research Roundtable (GUIPRR) Announce Strategic Partnership to Strengthen the National Research Ecosystem

Halo, an AI-powered partnering platform for R&D teams, and the Government-University-Industry-Philanthropy Research Roundtable (GUIPRR) at the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine are pleased to announce a strategic partnership designed to strengthen the U.S. research and development ecosystem through greater cross-sector engagement.

GUIPRR will support a cohort of 15 institutions from Halo’s NSF-supported Emerge project to participate in the June and October 2025 GUIPRR meetings in Washington, D.C. The Emerge cohort will attend open sessions, keynote presentations, and GUIPRR networking events. This collaboration creates new opportunities for these institutions to engage directly with national leaders shaping the future of science, technology, and innovation.

GUIPRR provides a unique forum for dialogue among top leaders from government, academia, industry, and philanthropy to address strategic challenges and advance the U.S. research enterprise.

“This partnership reflects GUIPRR’s commitment to cultivating dynamic dialogue across all sectors of the ecosystem that strengthens the national innovation landscape. We are excited to welcome the Emerge cohort and look forward to the insights they’ll contribute.”

Michael W. Nestor, Board Director at GUIPRR

Halo’s Emerge project, supported by the National Science Foundation, was designed to explore how artificial intelligence can facilitate the identification of mutual interests and opportunities for collaboration between scientists and companies. For corporate R&D teams, Halo helps discover new technologies, build relationships with the scientists behind them, and fill innovation pipelines. For scientists, the platform uncovers new applications for their work, alternative sources of funding, and strategic industry partners to advance their research.

“We’re thrilled to be working with GUIPRR to bring this opportunity to our Emerge institutions. This collaboration ensures that institutions developing breakthrough science can engage with the national ecosystem in a meaningful and strategic way.”

Kevin Leland, Founder and CEO at Halo
