Fungal and bacterial pathogens are a big contributor to crop losses worldwide, and Prof. Hailing Jin is developing innovative RNA-based fungicides to combat them. View Halo Profile >>
Tell us about your research.
We are developing innovative and eco-friendly approaches to control fungal and bacterial pathogens. We will be using RNA-based antifungals for plant protection.
Why did you choose this area of research?
It is super important to secure enough crop and food production for the continuously growing population. Fungal and bacterial pathogens can cause 20-30% of crop losses every year.

How could your Grants4Ag project someday impact #healthforall #hungerfornone?
We have shown that a new RNA-based generation of fungicides can effectively control those fungal pathogens that effectively take up RNAs from the environment. These findings can have a significant impact on disease control.
